Full-Day Trip from Marrakech to Ouzoud Waterfalls

The Ouzoud waterfalls day trip is a private full-day excursion from Marrakech by car with a dedicated driver. Ouzoud is north-east of Marrakech and the trip runs a full day. The price is per vehicle, not per person. Transport, driver, and pickup and drop-off in Marrakech are included; meals and site entrance fees are not.

Overview

Ouzoud drops in tiers into a green gorge, with rainbows in the spray most of the afternoon. The drive runs north-east of Marrakech through olive country, and it is a full day out.

That drive is the reason to do it privately. It is a long day, and on a coach you leave when the coach leaves. With your own car you can start early to reach the falls before the crowds, or stay late for the light, and stop where you want on the way back.

Good to Know

The descent: the path from the car park down to the base of the falls is steps and uneven ground, and steeper on the way back up. There are cafés terraced into the gorge if you want to break the climb.

The monkeys: Barbary macaques live in the olive groves around the falls. They are wild and used to people. Do not feed them, and keep bags closed.

Best time to go: spring for the strongest flow. Summer is hot at the bottom of the gorge but the spray helps; the boat rides at the base run in the warmer months.

What to bring: shoes with grip for the descent, sun protection, and something you do not mind getting damp near the base.

Is the price per person?

You pay for the car and the driver, not per seat. One traveller or seven pay the same fare; groups of 8 to 17 travel by minibus at a second rate.

How hard is the walk down to the falls?

Steps and uneven ground each way, steeper coming back up. Shoes with grip are worth having.
